indi: Park Ranger

indi can do a lot of amazing things—but can it take care of a national park!? This year, teams will design a park and program indi to complete ranger tasks. Using color tiles, students will guide it along trails, past creative features, and through a full ranger patrol—no screens required.

Teams will collaborate to build their park, tell its story, and use logic and sequencing to complete each task—just like a real park ranger on patrol.

Assemble Your Expedition Team

Starting a team to take on the great outdoors is easier than you think! The Coaching Guide gives you all the tools and structure you need to guide students through the Park Ranger Adventure event. Whether you’re coaching in a classroom, an after-school program, or a weekend STEM club, this challenge fits easily into any learning environment.

No prior robotics or programming experience needed.

Structuring Your Team

Teams can consist of 1–5 students. After purchasing the registration, you will be emailed a redemption code, which you can use to register your team on the official Sphero Global Challenge site. For larger groups, we recommend forming multiple teams. In this case, you need to purchase a registration and enter a redemption code for each team separately. Coaches are welcome to lead as many teams as they'd like.

A Challenge That’s FUN

“Be ready for a challenge, but it's a really fun one. You should still do it even if you don’t know how to code. Overcoming all the unexpected challenges and figuring it out is the best part.”

–Team 23983A, The Sphero Heroes
